Mitchell offers excellent opportunities in science pathways, with electives such as zoology, meteorology with the only Planetarium in the district, Project Lead the Way Biomedicine, alongside comprehensive AP/CU Succeeds programs. Moreover, Mitchell encompasses the largest performing/visual arts program in the Pikes Peak region, with an award-winning JROTC Air Force program, allowing students to express their creativity and discipline, with the opportunity to develop leadership and communication skills.

 

Career Pathways and College Credit Opportunities

Mitchell offers hands-on learning experiences beyond a traditional high school:

• Career and Technical Education (CTE): Many different pathways available specific to occupations, such as: biomedicine, CISCO networking, culinary arts, geology, and meteorology.
• Air Force JROTC: Mitchell hosts the largest, award-winning Air Force JROTC program in the Pikes Peak Region, providing deep military leadership training.
• Advanced Placement (AP): Students are offered the opportunity to enroll in many advanced, college-level courses, such as: Calculus, Biology, Physics, U.S. History, and many more. Each course has an accompanying AP exam at the end of the year with the opportunity for college credit.
• Award-winning Performing Arts: One of the largest performing arts programs in the Pikes Peak Region, Mitchell offers a comprehensive theatre & drama program, and n award-winning music & vocal arts program.
• College Credit Opportunities: Through Mitchell courses and partnerships in the Pikes Peak region. Through the CU Succeed program, students have the ability to enroll in dual credit courses that transfer to college credit through the University of Colorado system. Moreover, the Mitchell Promise offers advanced science classes (such as anatomy, physiology, and AP Biology) which double as dual-enrollment classes with Pikes Peak State College (PPSC).
